It's vacation!
I know you don't all have vacation, but I certainly do. There's not school this week for most students, including me, and thus I challenge all of you to come online and have some good old fun!

Although not much has happened for those who just play myth, there certainly have been some interesting developments in the world of myth. For example, there are the Myth Total War project (check out the trailer) and The WWII 1944 Normandy project
Finally, if you'd like to see a new feature implemented in myth 1.8, don't hesitate to post.

Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

NC wins the MWC trophy!
After some of the most exciting games we've ever seen NC emerges victorious from the MWC finals. After NC (the bottom bracket winners) beat TBC (the top bracket winner) on 7 pre-picked maps the finals went into Sudden Death.

In the first SD game, Flag Rally on The Desert Between Your Ears, TBC uses a strategy never seen before: rushing mid with thrall and dwarves while warriors rush on the flanks. Unfortunately for them, this doesn't work out quite as well as they wanted. 1-0 NC.
The second pick is Last Man on the Hill on The Barrens. This map has been played before during the MWC. After some heavy artillery battles TBC manages to win the game and tie the score. 1-1.
The third map pick is a classic one: Territories on If I had a Trow... Both teams split up into 3 flanks. After the southern TBC flank rushes things start to go downward for TBC. NC slowly gets the upper hand and manages to win the game. 2-1 NC.
The fourth game is a Flag Rally on Caer Cadarn (trow). NC quickly gets a lead in both % and flags and decides to let TBC take the initiative. A wise decision; NC manages to keep it's lead. A few minutes later it's clear that they will win the game and that they are the new Myth World Champions!

On behalf of the soulblighter.net team I'd like to congratulate NC!

MWC website finished
Well, it seems that the official MWC site is finally completed, here it is: http://skysoftwebs.com/tourney/index.php. And it also seems that you should register your team on that site. Since I'm not sure how organizational MWC things are going, I don't know what about the teams that have been already registered on the forums, but I'd suggest registering again on this new MWC site. I know that this is pretty confusing, but I'm confused as all of you as well ;)

Myth World Cup 2010 starts in a few days!
The official starting date of the MWC Qualifying Round is June 19th, so you have a few more days to register your team. After that, you still have a few weeks in which you can be added to a team, but there will have to be free spots on the team roster.

There is a new MWC website - www.mythers.com, but it isn't finished yet, there are some problems with database, so until it is working fine, http://mwc10.webs.com/ is still the official site of the tournament.

Keep registering and making changes with your teams on the forums for now. These forums will be used for the entirety of this tournament.  Team registration ends on June 17th and QR1 starts on June 19th.  The QR pools will be posted on June 17th.

Myth World Cup 2010 website
The Myth World Cup 2010 website is up!

After some struggles, it's finally here: the MWC10 website. Check it out HERE. If you don't know what the myth world cup is, check out our previous news post.

Registration will end at June 12th, so from this day you'll have 2 weeks to get a team together - but this is probably going to be extended to 3 weeks.

MWC10 is different from the past MWC's, because there's a new rule: players are allowed to play on 2 teams! Also, matches will be scored in a bit other way. More information about these rules can be found HERE. The tournament structure remains the same: Qualifying Rounds followed by Double Elimination.

The tournament officials hope that 12-16 teams with a maximum roster size of 12 players will join in the fun. We hope to see YOU on the MWC10 battlefield!

Myth World Cup 2010
Myth World Cup is here again!

Players from all over the world once again join together to form teams to compete in this most eminent Myth tournament ever. This is the news by Om from the Mariusnet website (I hope you don't mind Om ;)):

"According to some posts on the NationalMythLeague 2010 tournament site, an organizer and website developer have been found to run the next installment of Myth's oldest and largest 2 team tournament:

the 2010 Myth World Cup !!!

If you've never played in the MWC, the Myth World Cup is always a fun time for all, full of epic battles, good sportsmanship and congenial good will, where everyone puts aside their petty differences and grudges and drama and the community gets together and bonds over the one thing we all have in common - our shared love of the game of Myth, so make sure you are a part of MWC:2010 this summer!

The first match is scheduled for the beginning of June, so there's no time to waste - read the NML site thread for more details, discuss in the mariusnet tournament forums, get your team organized and start spreading the word to all the seasonal Myth players, that MWC2010 is on!"

National Myth League 2010 winners
NC wins the National Myth League 2010!

After months of tournament matches, the finals were played at april 11th. That sunday, 7 official tournament games were played on the only server that's left for us mythers: mariusnet. After 7 games it was clear that NC had crushed their challengers, TVR. The final score was NC:55-TVR:9 (NC:7-TVR:0 in games), and NC has won a tournament once more. It's a fact that NC hasn't lost a single match this tournament, and although they tied 2 matches, they've won the rest. And so they deserved their victory. Rumors are going on about a rematch for the second place between TVR and PJU, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

The winner of the 1vs1 mini-tournament, that was hosted by Aki, is GiantKillerGeneral. He came out on top during the finals, after giving his competitor, Ghengis Khan, a 2 victory head start, but next he wins 4 games in a row. That makes the final score 4-2 for Giant Killer General, and thus he wins the 1vs1 tournament.

You can find more info at http://myth2tournament.webs.com and http://absolut87.websitetoolbox.com, replays of the finals are available at http://absolut87.websitetoolbox.com/file?id=965328

Thanks to everybody who participated!

The Battle for Urbarahz 1.1
The Battle for Urbarahz 1.1 is released!

The Battle for Urbarahz is a plugin that gives you the chance to stop the Goblins seemingly endless armies from invading the Dwarven homeland. You will not only get to fight in the outskirts of the Dwarven territories, but also on the slopes of their mountains and in the sacred Dwarven halls inside the mountains.

This plugin looks gorgeous, but that's certainly not all. It features a huge challenge for anyone that will take it, and once you've started playing this plugin you will not be able to stop for quite some time.

Remember to invite your friends for a game, or you might die horribly!

Some of the improvements that were made in version 1.1:
-Some balance tweaks for the wimps out there that couldn't win ;)
-The game-stopping Barri bug on 'On the Shoulders of Urbarahz' has been fixed

Get it from http://tain.totalcodex.net/items/show/the-battle-for-urbarahz-v1-1

TWS III tournament
The next Myth tournament is on it's way!

It seems that Paris is going to host The Winter Series tournament for the third time. Here is some info from the Mariusnet forums:

"it's been a work in progress. no special date ill just drop it.

to prepare:
if you want to captain/make a team:
have 2 other 'think' permanent alternatives that will be co-captains with you.
you will need at least one player to show up for the draft, which will be posted at a later date. there might be a large number of teams, which may or may not be so great and will have an impact on how the tournament is executed and run. registration is a vital process to begin any tournament, and all players who register as captains must be dedicated to keeping in touch with their team.
General Info:

  • 3 Per team core
  • Only players who can stay consistent, reliable and available throughout the tournament should sign up as a captain.
  • We are aiming for at least 16 teams, which will be healthy. More than that will result in circumstances changing as well.

if you want to participate:
make sure you have your name and login ready. any participants in the tournament that have been investigated, caught, and sentenced will most likely be thrown out of the tournament, no questions asked. All members, from ancient fart veterans to noobs to egotistical badass mythers are welcome to play in this tournament. This is a 'no hard feelings' tournament and would be run best if you did not squirm with who you teamed with and instead dealed with it (and imagine the popular review of your team chat emulsion in the forums). Myth is fun once again, so get pumped up!

Get ready to register soon! I'm sure if I see you talking here I'll see you around for the tournament. Spread the news and tell others. If you feel responsible and confident enough perhaps you should get your own squad of redneck mythers together to start practicing and get others involved.

If you're interested in helping out during this tournament please contact me. I am also looking for one more "wiseman" to help me throughout the tournament, especially during the begging stages. There will probably be only one more spot open for this but all are welcome to apply to that as well."

Make a team and get ready for some good fun then! For more info, take a look on THIS thread on Mariusnet forums.

Myth World Cup 2009
Myth World Cup is here again!

Players from all over the world once again join together to form teams to compete in this most eminent Myth tournament ever. Will the 11th World Cup be as good as the previous ones? We'll see it soon.

Because we were working on updating our site and my router burned on Wednesday and I lost my Internet connection, there wasn't any information about this year's Myth World Cup yet, but it has already started. Anyway, there are 24 teams in the tournament and Qualifying Round has already come to an end. Double Elimination round started this weekend. Rosters are already closed, so the only thing left to do is either to play (if you registered) or watch the games (if you didn't sign up).

Site update
Updating of our site has finally come to an end!

We have already finished our work on the English version of the site and at present Soulblighter.net is entirely completed in two language versions: Polish and English. Pamphagus, one of our "The Nine" clan members has helped us a lot in this process, thanks Pamp!

I also added a link to Pyro's Myth Starter Guide in "Myth" section. It's a good guide for all beginning (but may be useful for anyone) Myth players. Don't forget to check it out :)
